DreamKIDZ 3 — START!
On February 9th, the opening session for the third group of our DreamKIDZ project was held at New Hope Center. This was preceded by a long and difficult process of recruiting families who would agree to a one-year training and participation in the activities of the project.
Families were first of all invited who, for different reasons, could not get in to the previous two groups of DreamKIDZ. Secondly, the social services of the city provided us with a list of disadvantaged families and potential participants of DreamKIDZ 3. But the last and best option was word-of-mouth. Graduates of DreamKIDZ 1 & 2 invited their friends and acquaintances, which helped greatly in the recruitment process.
Out of thirty willing families, fifteen have joined us for the year-long program—which is a realistic number that we are able to impact over the months ahead. Included are twenty-four children, most of whom are under eleven years old. The pre-teen group (11-13 years old) is still in process.
